 What's New for the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500?
The full-size GMC Sierra 1500 remains a strong contender for truck shoppers in 2023. GMC debuted the Sierra 1500's fourth generation in 2019 with substantial improvements and has made numerous upgrades since then. The 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 introduces a new trim level and safety package.
More specifically, the AT4X AEV Edition trim was launched with the 2023 model year. Now the trim lineup has eight options: the base Pro trim followed by the SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. The AT4X is available with a V8, 6.2-liter, 420-horsepower gas engine. It also is outfitted with off-roading equipment like all-terrain tires, recovery hooks, four-wheel drive, a two-speed transfer case, hill descent control, adjustable traction control, skid plates, a lifted and upgraded suspension, and mono-tube shock absorbers. This trim also comes with a virtual rearview mirror camera, front and rear parking sensors, a bed-view camera, adaptive cruise control, a powered rear window, a sunroof, tailgate speakers, a head-up display, off-road adaptive dampers, and electronic locking differentials.
The powertrains available for the GMC Sierra 1500 are unchanged for the current model year. In addition to the V8 engine with the AT4X trim, options include a 310-horsepower turbo four-cylinder engine and a V8, 355-horsepower engine. A 277-horsepower, turbo-diesel I-6 is also available.
The Sierra Safety Plus optional package is available for the first time in 2023 and is exclusively offered with the AT4 trim. The package includes HD surround vision, a trailering side blind zone alert, trailer camera provisions, a rear pedestrian alert, and rear cross-traffic braking.
All of the 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 trims have been equipped with a great selection of modern features. Specific features are trim-dependent, but your new 2023 Sierra 1500 could come with a Bose sound system, Super Cruise, a carbon-fiber composite bed, wireless device charging, heated front and rear seats, driver's memory settings, a household power outlet, wireless smartphone app connections, leather seats, and other features.
